Friends,
The feature film “Don't Close Your Eyes” which I co-produced with our company Itchy Rodent Films is premiering at the most prestigious Bulgarian Film Festival for Bulgarian cinema only.
The film festival was established in 1961, is State run and takes place in beautiful Varna on the Black Sea. That same year the top US grossing films were:
The Guns of Navarone - $28,900,000
West Side Story - $19,646,000
101 Dalmatians - $14,000,000
I remember watching “101 Dalmatians” in the 80s in Bulgaria. The story goes that my sister was really scared and would start crying when Cruella de Vil would appear. My sister has been vegetarian for over 20 years and loves, loves animals. Her part time job is at a dog grooming place. So maybe there was something more in the movie than meets the eye.
Just like we hope you will find something more in “Don’t Close Your Eyes” than meets the soul... We’re honored and so grateful to the organizers for the selection and opportunity. The film features an ensemble cast of some of the most revered Bulgarian actors of our time.
The pre-premiere is on the 22nd of September which also happens to be Independence Day in Bulgaria. Go figure. Coincidence? Hmm… I don’t know about you, but I don’t believe in them. It’s no small wonder our indie film will have its first public screening that day. We have many stories to tell in the Q&A.
Let’s go! I leave on Thursday…
Do what you love,
Bogdan
