The PVC flute
Greetings from Bulgaria, friends!
This is a quick Hello with some exciting stories to share coming your way. In short, we had three showings of “Kaval Park” in a row. I’m resting today. Starting tomorrow we have five back to back showings with two highly anticipated ones in Varna on Wednesday and Sofia on Friday!
BTW, it’s my first time driving in Bulgaria. In Veliko Tarnovo I cut off a police car which had the right away. They scolded me, gave me a ticket and said, “Next time be more careful, Mr. Darev.” I’m grateful I learned some rules about driving here in the most harmless way! And think about it, what are the chances I’d cut off a police car of all cars. Lessons definitely needed to be learned…
On Monday I was invited for a TV appearance with an incredibly well spoken journalist which prompted for a very unique and deep talk. I was also a guest on two Facebook live podcasts. They’re in Bulgarian, otherwise I’d share. It’s hard to believe I’ve been in Bulgaria for just a week and so much has already happened. BTW, my mind keeps waking up between 3 and 4 in the morning. It’s the longest ever body and mind have been jet-lagged! At this point I just get up instead of attempting to sleep more.

The PVC flute
The child in the photo bellow is one of two who after watching the film said:
"I want to play the kaval."
I gave him my PVC flute and he started attempting to make a sound. And so he continued to try in between playing freeze tag and fusbol. Finally, he did it and got a sound. He went to his friends, showed them the kaval and how he plays.
Then, he asked me, "Can I buy this kaval from you?" The Bulgarian flag in the background of our photo together is not staged... It makes me happy and it would have made bai Sasho even happier!
