Dear friends,
Over the last two months our film “Kaval Park” has screened 20 times in 17 cities and villages across Bulgaria. The best part is the film is gaining so much momentum that at the end of November we’re back in Bulgaria for phase 2 of the tour.
Meanwhile, we are stating the US West Coast Tour with the long-awaited US premiere in Seattle on October 27th at SIFF Cinema (tickets on sale now) - the same theatre I had one of my first movie experiences in America. I was a very green, overwhelmed immigrant in ‘95, still a kid, really, and often took refuge in the movie theatre. Cinema has been my safety mechanism. It’s how I process the world. Now I rarely watch movies, but back then movies were a daily ritual.
I bought my ticket, people lined up all the way into the back alley. Is this the line for “Casino”. Yes. I walked around the block, marveling at the sheer number of people talking excitedly, all of us collectively anticipating the film. Little would I know, come 2019 we would premiere my film “There” in the very same auditorium Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese wowed teenage Bogdan. And now, three years later, we are back again in the same movie theatre with the US Premiere of “Kaval Park”!
Once you get to the ticket link, don’t get confused by the in-person-tickets caption. That means the event is in-person. This email list is always the fist to have access to tickets. We expect the premiere to be Sold Out so please don’t wait to get your ticket.
For those who are along the West Coast, we are finalizing November showings in Portland, San Francisco, LA, Las Vegas, Sand Diego (19th) and Phoenix (20th). Stay tuned for all the dates!
Our new website for the film is up in both languages. We’re very excited about how it’s turning out.
Today is the premiere of “Kaval Park” in Plovdiv, the town protagonist Alexander Eppler fell in love with in 1971! I’ll also be leading a workshop beforehand - I must get going to continue preparing while listening to Massive Attack.
Lastly, I knew we had a special poster, but it didn’t really hit me until I saw it next to all the other posters. Is it me, or does it stand out? The design is by the multitalented Mariya Apostolova
Be creative, be inspired!
Bogdan
Congratulations, Bogdan! I will be there with bells on!
